Reduce Reuse Recycle: 4 Ways Some Companies are Saving the Earth

Many companies have demonstrated environmental responsibility by adopting eco-friendly practices that help the planet. Implementing these changes has also proven to be more cost-effective for some businesses. Here are some of the ways that companies are doing their part to save the earth.

Paper Usage Reduction

By using less paper, companies have managed to save many trees that would have ordinarily been cut down to make paper products. This has been accomplished largely thanks to modern technology that allows documents to be stored in digital format. Many companies are also more aware of the importance of recycling and are committed to recycling used paper products instead of discarding them in the trash.

Eco-Friendly Textiles

Some companies that are in the business of manufacturing textiles have started using materials for threads that are better for the planet. An example of this would be a company that reclaims floating plastic from the ocean and uses it to spin into yarn that looks and feels like standard yarn material. Other businesses have switched to using bamboo, industrial hemp and organic cotton. Soy protein that has been left over from soybeans that are used for food production can also be turned into soy-based cashmere or silk.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

Businesses that want to do their part for the environment have achieved success by finding better alternatives to the fossil fuels that are known to emit carbon dioxide and other carbon compounds that negatively affect air quality. Companies have also reduced their carbon footprints by using LED lights instead of halogen bulbs and purchasing office equipment that’s designed to conserve energy. Some employers are even helping the environment by allowing their employees to work from home instead of commuting to the office in vehicles that pollute the air.

Using Environmentally Responsible Suppliers

Many companies have opted to get the products that they need to do business from suppliers who’ve also adopted eco-friendly practices. Some of these suppliers are willing to reclaim used packaging materials from businesses to use again. Others use machinery that’s both energy-efficient and releases the smallest amounts of pollutants possible. It’s even possible to find suppliers that operate in facilities that are made from green building materials.

Each business that does their part to help the environment can play an integral role in saving the planet for future generations. By continuing to maintain eco-friendly practices and adopt new ones, companies can meet or even exceed all environmentally responsible standards.
