4 Ways to Make Industrial Manufacturing Greener

Everyone has to do their part when it comes to keeping the environment clean. One way that you can do this is to focus on ways to make the industrial manufacturing process more eco-friendly. Here are some ways that you can adapt your company’s practices.

Examine Your Usage

One of the best places to start when it comes to becoming a greener facility, is to perform an energy audit. This will allow you to identity areas that could use some work. Look at your lighting situation on the manufacturing floor. You may be able to replace your old bulbs with newer more energy efficient models. Some of these bulbs are actually brighter than their higher wattage counterparts. Heating and cooling costs likely constitute a large portion of your energy usage. Consider unique ways that you can reduce your overall consumption.

Focus on Renewable Sources

Solar, wind, and hydro power are more eco-friendly than the traditional methods of producing energy. These resources are sustainable and don’t cause as much harm to the environment. Installing solar panels is something that many businesses can do very easily. This is one solution for a manufacturer to make their own renewable power source. There may even be tax incentives for a business that is willing to go off of the gird.

Contain Your Controls

It’s important to have safety switches that are in good working order. Use durable control box covers for all of your switches and machinery controls. This type of box is designed to be in a manufacturing environment. Be sure to purchase watertight and chemically resistant boxes for your operation. This way it will withstand anything that you can throw at it. Reducing any possible leaks or accidents helps keep the environment safer.  Taking the time to monitor these kinds of things is important.

Use Reclaimed Water

Water is a valuable resource in many parts of the world. Using less of it saves you money and is good for the environment. Use reclaimed water in your manufacturing processes and for other types of waste water. There are pumping and filtration systems that you can purchase that will help you to achieve this goal. You can purchase low flow faucet heads as well. Consider installing these on all of your sinks and showers in your facility.

Businesses need to do their part in the green movement. Come up with ways that you can reduce your carbon footprint in the industrial manufacturing process.
