Cleaning out your home can be quite the task. Whether you’re moving or looking to become better organized, it’s best to start with a dumpster rental. From there, you can throw whatever out without having to worry about overflowing your garbage can. Before you toss everything in the trash, however, consider what can be recycled.
It’s a good idea to get rid of all of the cardboard in your home. Too much cardboard can actually lead to pest problems. Instead of breaking it down and tossing it in the dumpster, be sure to recycle it. The pulp in cardboard can create sulfur dioxide, leading to acid rain. When you recycle it, you’re able to cut that pollution in half.
You may have plastic bottles from a variety of sources. Think about all of the bottles of shampoo and conditioner that you may have around the house. Consider jugs of milk and soda. All of those bottles can be recycled instead of thrown away. It can take a long time for that material to break down on its own in the landfill. Meanwhile, when properly recycled, plastic can be repurposed by creating fabric, lumber, and more.
All sorts of glass may be tossed when you start organizing. This may be soda bottles, wine bottles, or even old vases that you don’t want. Glass is 100% recyclable. The best part is that it can be recycled endlessly without ever having to worry about losing the purity or quality. Instead of tossing the glass where it can end up in a dump, it can be transformed into an array of domestic materials.
It’s important that you recycle electronics. It may be easy to toss batteries, cameras, computers, and other things into the trash out of convenience. However, this can lead to a lot of toxic materials being released into the environment. All sorts of e-waste is going into landfills. By taking the time to find out where the different electronics should be recycled, you can do your part to help the environment. Many office supply stores will collect batteries and toner cartridges. As for computers, TVs, and other electronics, find out what your county suggests.
It’s always a good idea to clean out your home regularly. As you find things that you want to throw out, you have to sort everything. Decide what to throw and what to recycle.
