No matter what you’re interested in, there is a green career for you.
The world is changing quickly, but it isn’t always for the better. A lot of the things that we’re doing right now are destroying the planet, and we’re going to have to alter our lifestyles dramatically if there’s any hope in reversing some of what we’ve done.
There are plenty of people out there who want to do something to help the world, but they just aren’t sure how. Luckily, there are plenty of career paths that people can take to do their part to help save the planet.
Here are four career paths that pay well and help save the world.
Some people may not think of saving the world when they think of tourism, but irresponsible tourism is a major contributing factor to the destruction of important resources. In many developing countries, the priority is on making money even if it is at the expense of keeping the environment clean.
Working in ecotourism, you will help countries preserve both their natural beauty and their culture in a sustainable way.
People who earn their LEED certification help companies build properties in a way that doesn’t destroy the local environment. People who are interested in architecture flourish in this field, and it’s a great opportunity to use your skills for the greater good. But you don’t have to be an architect to work on green buildings. Earning a degree from one of the top civil engineering master’s programs is a great way to get involved, and it will allow you to work on large, public projects, not just buildings.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporations get a bad name because the greedy, corrupt ones are often the ones who make it into the news. However, not all corporations are power-hungry companies that are pursuing profit at all costs. Many corporations have excellent social responsibility programs to make sure that they are operating in an environmentally friendly way and helping out those who need it the most, and they need intelligent people who can manage these programs.
Many people dream of being environmental lawyers, but the cost of law programs in the United States often prevents them from reaching this goal. However, for those who are well prepared for the cost or able to find funding of some sort to help them out, the world needs lawyers who care about the environment. Lawyers have a very specific skill set that allows them to fight against the people who are destroying the planet.
These are just a few of the options available to you if you’re interested in following a career path that helps to save the planet. No matter what you’re interested in, there is a green career for you.
