In a bid to raise awareness on climate change, Earth Hour will be put to practice the world over on March 28 (today). The global event organized by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will have participation from across almost all companies, and Ness India would be one among them.
Observed annually on the last Saturday of March, this initiative aims at spreading the message that even small things we do every day can make a better future. Accordingly, on Saturday the March 28th, between 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM (IST) all lights and non-essential electrical appliances at the Ness India Offices of Bangalore, Mumbai and Hyderabad will be switched off, except in emergency areas. Ness Employees will participate and show their solidarity by turning off all electrical appliances of their respective houses too.
Pruthvi Nanjappa, VP – Human Resources, Ness Software Engineering Services (SES), has stated that “at Ness SES, we are aware of the effect we have on our environment and do everything to minimise our overall carbon footprint”.
All meeting rooms and cabins at Ness are equipped with motion sensors that automatically switch off when inactive. “Our laptops and systems are configured to automatically go into sleep-mode if idle for more than five minutes. We send out our company newsletter electronically and we strive for paperless transactions with all our notifications sent via email. And on Wednesdays we switch off the elevators in the company for an hour to encourage wellness amongst employees and save power. We constantly strive to implement best practices from across the globe. On March 28th, we will encourage employees to keep respecting the environment and lead conscious lives,” he added.
