We often see Hollywood stars advocating eco-friendly life styles and habits. Indian actors stars are also extremely conscious towards the environment. Ganesh festival is here, and it is the time of the year when lakhs of idols of Lord Ganesha are made across the country in almost every shape and size. But we always try to ignore the fact that, these idols are often made by materials that cause harm to nature.
Recently, we saw Bollywood actresses voicing their concern over use of idols made from hazardous materials.
Pretty star Jacqueline Fernandez has advocated the use of eco-friendly Ganesha Chaturthi, saying that we need to create awareness among people to use resources more wisely and responsibly.
She also promoted Ganesha idols made of bio-degradable material such as clay and papier-mache. Suggesting that artificial ponds can be used for the immersion, she said it could help reduce pollution. Also, cloths, ornaments and other decorating materials on idols should be removed before immersion, she has urged fellow beings.
Well, Jacqueline is not the only one promoting eco-friendly Ganesha Chaturthi. ‘Singam’ star Kajal Aggarwal recently launched a campaign dubbed BIG Green Ganesha in Hyderabad, where the initiative promotes idols made with donated newspaper. She also donated newspapers to the campaign.
Can anyone forget the pretty young lady from the film’ Maine Pyar Kiya’? Actress -designer Bhagyshree is also passionate about her green lifestyle, and at a recent event at Powai, she promoted and encouraged the use of clay Ganpati idols this festival season.
It is encouraging to see Bollywood stars showing concern towards nature and promoting eco-friendly life. Let’s all do an encore this season.
