A beauty trip to ‘Catch the Tree Spa’ in Santiago won’t end up as a futile exercise after all. In fact, compared to the other spas in Santiago, this contemporary destination boasts superlative design.
The credit for designing this sustainable building goes to architecture company LAND Arquitectos, based in Las Condes, Santiago, Chile.
The project makes use of glass as well as a garden where capers, lavender, rosemary and other herbs and vegetables are grown for use in the facility.
The two main areas are physically separated but connected visually and spatially, through the central courtyard of Damascus.
The project aims to make maximum use of natural light and brings outdoor space into the work.
The white interiors and furniture work wonders in the mirror reflections and provide a shade from the vegetation surrounding the project.
There is also a sustainable side to the design as the sauna faces north to up the building’s internal temperature.
The garden, in the meanwhile, is rich in a collection of species and food ingredients thus making the building an “active landscape,” which means that this landscape serves more functions than a regular landscape.
There is no doubt that you will appreciate the eco-friendly design of this building and its various innovations to sustainability. Are you planning to head over there? Tell us your experiences too.
