People never learn. Actually, people refuse to learn. When it’s just profit that rules their mind, they forget compassion and kindness. There has been yet another killing of the dolphins and this time it needs to be taken seriously. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society are offering an amount of $1,500 for handing over the information that would lead to the conviction of those cruel minds who shot and killed a Bottlenose dolphin.
The dolphin was found dead over the weekend on Elmer’s Island Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana with a bullet hole just behind its blowhole. Dolphins are such peaceful mammals; and it needs to be seen as very serious crime when they are killed for money.
If this is not disturbing enough, here is another tale for you. Mark Kinsey, enforcement supervisor for Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi, found a dolphin earlier this summer stabbed in the head with a screwdriver.
Dolphins have been at the receiving end all through, and added to that many a factor like Gulf oil spills, fishing gear entanglements, loss of habitat and vandalism from the public have made life hell for them all over the globe. Think, people, think!
