George Clooney Sells His Tesla to Fund Satellite Sentinel Project

Actor-director and Academy Award winner George Timothy Clooney has decided to sell his 2008 ‘Signature 100′ Tesla Roadster electric car. And the auction amount will contribute to the Satellite Sentinel Project in Sudan.

This is a clever step from Clooney to raise awareness among people about the Satellite Sentinel Project(SSP). The Satellite Sentinel Project, or SSP is an non-profit organization that aims to monitor armed activities in the civil war between Sudan and South Sudan.

It also detects the mass atrocities in the region. Through satellite monitoring it can ensure rapid responses on human rights and human security concerns. Therefore this auction is not only about money.

The SSP was envisioned by George Clooney and Enough Project co-founder John Prendergast during their visit to Southern Sudanin October 2010.

This veteran actor also works for Not On Our Watch Project that tries to stop and prevent mass atrocities. Celebrities like Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, David Pressman, and Jerry Weintraub are also supporting this project.

Clooney is famous for his political views and humanitarian works. George’s Tesla will be auctioned by Gooding & Co. at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in September.
