Recyclable Basketball Stadium to Make its Debut at London Olympics

Only a few hours are left for the start of the London Olympics and the stadiums are all decked up with amazing designs and architecture. Adding color to the event, the Basketball Stadium attracts onlookers and enthusiasts from far and wide for its sheer design. The  modern white-clad, recyclable stadium has been designed by Sinclair knight Merz, Wilkinson Eyre and KSS.

This recycled basketball stadium has been entirely built from 1,000 tons of steel. Okay, we can’t call it completely green. It is mobile and lightweight, designed to be a temporary structure.

While comparing with Zaha Hadid’s eco pavilion, this basketball stadium is also a significant step towards a sustainable direction.

According to Architizer, Dennis Hone, Chief Executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), this new model will allow another countries to benefit from the economic stimulus usually related with mega sporting events like the Olympic Games.
