The Taiwan-based multinational company Asus is trying to win the hearts of environmentally-conscious consumers with their new nettop. The company claims that its new nettop is 90% recyclable. Its NVIDIA GeForce GT 610M video card can handle both light gaming and high resolution 1080p video playback. That makes it display very low power consumption levels.
The device is said to hold under the hood either an Intel Cedar Trail D2550 dual core CPU that clocks at at 1.86 GHz or the D2700 at 2.13 GHz low performance chip.
The Asus Eee Box EB1033 nettop is very thin and compact, with volume less than 1 liter. Its sheer thinness allows placing it in an upright position. Instead of the notetop’s small size, it possesses all the basic ports.
Four USB 2.0 ports are located in front, along with a multi-card reader, a headphones jack, and a microphone jack. Meanwhile, a Wi-Fi antenna, two USB 3.0 ports, a VGA port, D-Sub port, and a full size HDMI port are located at the rear.
A 4 GB of RAM and a 2.5-inch hard drive bay that can hold up to 500 GB of storage are also included. And for connectivity options, the device supports USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi.
Asus Eee Box EB1033 Nettop will hit the market around the end of this June with a price tag of $300 or 242 EUR.
Asus has won the Green ICT Green Energy Saving Product Award for the Eee Box EB1033 Nettop at Computex. It is good to see that companies like Asus are taking such efforts to protect the environment.
