The Pirates of Caribbean actress Keira Knightley recently visited Chad in West Africa with the UNICEF team.
During her visit, the actress was overcome with emotion after witnessing the malnourished children in the country.
Chad is currently facing the worst food crisis and people are living in extreme poverty. And in such emergency situations, children are the first to pay the price. UNICEF and other NGO’s are trying to tackle the situation. Nutritional centers are opened to provide direct and immediate care to the children who are facing the crisis.
The soccer aid match was held in Manchester,England, the last Sunday and it featured many stars like Will Ferrell, Michael Sheen and Robbie Williams. It aimed to raise money for the UNICEF to help the children around the world.
The 27-year-old actress visited the nutritional centers in Chad and appeared on video which was released as part of the match.
Keira Christina Knightley started her career as a child actress and internationally noticed in 2002 after co-starring in the film “Bend It Like Beckham”.
The renowned actress also earned nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role as Elizabeth Bennet in “Pride and Prejudice” in 2005. Two years later, she again was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her performance in “Atonement”.
