As many as 51 eco-friendly vehicles will roll out from the Hyundai Kia combine’s assembly line to the venue of the Yeosu Expo 2012, to be held in Yeosu,South Korea between May 12 and August 12, this year.
These 51vehicles will include hydrogen fuel-cell sport utility vehicle Tucsonix and the SUV Mohave, electric vehicles such as crossover utility vehicle Ray EV and the Blueon, and a compressed natural gas hybrid bus.
The vehicles will be used to carry expo staff, performance groups and organizing committee members. As many as 20 hydrogen and electric cars will be distributed to developing countries to assist in their administrative operations. These apart, visitors can also get a chance to test drive the vehicles at the energy park.
Hyundai Motor’s hydrogen fuel-cell system vehicles are completely eco-friendly. The vehicle generates electricity by combining hydrogen with oxygen from the air without the emission of carbon dioxide. The company is planning to localize the manufacturing of core parts of the hydrogen vehicles. The mass production of these vehicles will start from 2015.
At the Yeosu Expo, which is recognized as a green-energy expo, Hyundai will use its hydrogen fuel-cell technology to generate electricity for the Korea Pavilion. The carmakers will look to demonstrate their excellent eco-friendly vehicles to the visitors from around the world at the expo that will boast the theme “The Living Ocean and Coast”.
