Honda gearing Up for Fit Production in Thailand

Honda is planning to start the production of the hybrid version of its Fit compact in Thailand. The sales of the Jazz Hybrid will start in the next summer. Jazz is the name for Fit outside the US. Last year, Honda sold almost 86,000 of its hybrid vehicle worldwide.

Therefore to keep up with its increased sales, Honda decides to increase its production of hybrid vehicle. This is the first Honda production in Asia.

A version of Honda’s Jazz hybrid was first unveiled in 2010 Paris Motor Show. This model uses the same powertrain as the CR-Z and Insight hybrids.

Thailand, World’s 12th-largest country, was staggered in the flood last year which killed nearly 815 people. As a result of this, Honda and Toyota plants met with loss. But both the companies have restarted its production.

Honda unveiled a battery-electric Fit at the Los Angeles Auto Show last November. Honda will also start leasing of its Fit EV to a limited number of customers in the U.S .later this summer.

Honda’s Jazz Hybrid production will be a land mark in the Thai automotive industry.
