After the launch of eco-friendly sunglasses, Gucci is now turning towards designing a new line of environment-friendly shoes.
Inspired by the Copenhagen Fashion Summit, the Italian fashion house creative director Frida Giannini has designed a new line of Sustainable Soles footwear.
The eco-friendly soles line which includes one style for both men and women, both use biodegradable plastic.
The female shoes are ballerina flat and will be available in three colors including blush, taupe and black. These shoes feature cutout details and the company’s signature GG motif.
The men’s style is a sneaker having bio-rubber soles which will be available in both a high and low-top. However, the upper part of the shoe is in vegetable tanned calfskin and has bio strings. The sneakers also possess tongues featuring the Gucci logo printed in green on a recycled polyester label.
The eco-friendly designs are part of the pre-fall 2012 collection and it will be available in Gucci’s showrooms and in e-commerce at the end of June.
Well, Gucci is not planning to promote these sustainable soles line as vegan. It’s right because there are many options to make them more eco-friendly.
How ever, we can say that after Gucci’s bio-based frames synthesized from castor seeds and liquid wood sunglasses, these sustainable soles footwear line is certainly a smart move towards sustainability.
