What you use is not what you think! Confused? We mean the stuff you use on a day to day basis every day may not be safe, even if you think they are. There are many an item on your menu, wardrobe and the make up kit that are labeled toxic-free and natural, but that may not be the case always. Let’s try and zero in on some of the harmful stuff you use daily thinking they are healthy and harmless.
Toxic-free nail polish
Nail polishes, which claimed to be free of the toxic-trio- toluene, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and formaldehyde – actually contain these agents in higher levels than what was believed to be, a study has already proved. Exposure to these highly dangerous toxic chemicals may generate health issues like birth defects, cancer, and other chronic health conditions. So before use, make sure that it is devoid of any dangerous toxic chemicals.
The first synthetic perfume was created in a lab in the 19th century. At that time expensive natural raw products were used to make perfumes, but now they have been replaced with chemicals like petroleum distillate. The Environmental Protection Agency has revealed that numerous potentially dangerous chemicals have been used in perfumes and oils, and they include acetone, benzaldehyde, benzyl acetate, benzyl alcohol, camphor, ethanol, ethyl acetate, limonene and methylene chloride. Exposure to these chemicals, may lead to central nervous system disorders, dizziness, nausea, slurred speech, drowsiness, irritation to the mouth, throat, eyes, skin, and lungs, kidney damage, headache, respiratory failure, ataxia, and fatigue. The fragrance that once scented our dreams now becomes really harmful.
Personal perfumes and other fragrances like room fresheners contain highly hazardous chemicals like phthalates, a hormone-destructive chemical, formaldehyde, aerosol propellant, petroleum distillates, p-dichlorobenzene, terpenes, benzene, styrene, phthalates, and toluene, phosphates, chlorine bleach and ammonia. The problem lies in the fact that the air freshener industry is not properly regulated and the many products are manufactured without meeting industrial standards. Out of the 14 tested, 12 were found contain harmful chemicals.
A small amount of lead exposure can cause brain damage to children. A study led by the Food and Drug Administration has revealed the fact that 400 lipsticks in the market contained lead. Most of the lipsticks now available contain higher levels of toxic chemicals.
As we are busy with our daily activities, we find it easy to buy canned food instead of cooking items ourselves. We have always thought canned food was a means of food preservation. Little did we know that, way back in the 1950s, can manufacturers started using one of the most dangerous chemicals called bisphenol A to line metal food and drink cans. The Center for Disease and Prevention come up with fact that many Americans are exposed to these chemical at low doses, leading to cases of breast cancer, obesity and many other diseases.
Now tell us would you still want to use these stuff?
