Look where Real Madrid is heading for. The soccer team will soon start construction of an artificial island in the UAE, and the estimated cost of the overall project is estimated to be at $1 billion.
The team is planning to build an archipelago of artificial islands. The whole theme park will include two high-rise hotels, beachside bungalows and an amusement park with a rollercoaster and a 10,000-seat football stadium, which would be open to a view of the sea on one end and a hi-tech museum that houses the history of the team on another. Sports facilities will include training pitches and swimming pools and a marina for yachting.
The whole project will be constructed in partnership with the UAE government. The project covers 430,000 sq m area and will have J+H BOIFFILS as the architects for the project. The soccer team hopes to open the resort by January 2015.
Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez hopes that the UAE resort will attract a staggering millions of people looking for entertainment. According to him, the island’s location will be at the center of the team’s Spanish home and the 300 million Real Madrid fans located in Asia. The company expects around 200 million visitors to the amusement park that will be part of the project every year.
We hope the resort island would develop into a high level tourist and sporting center when it takes final shape.
