You need not be a mayor to take a green initiative. But if you are a mayor, you can try following what your Chicago counterpart did for a safer, greener city. Rahm Emanuel wanted to make Chicago a more bike-friendly city, and he planned to construct 100 miles of protected bike lanes in his first team.
And, look at that, the first lanes in Kinzie Street are open to the public before Emanuel’s first 30 days in office as mayor, thanks to his Department of Transportation team.
