Toyota Prius C: Smallest Hybrid Car of its Kind, Likely to Hit UK and Europe

Toyota is expanding their Prius line up. The company seems to be all set to introduce a new hybrid car at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show starting this November-end. A leaked brochure makes it clear that the new Toyota Prius C hybrid supermini car will be the smallest in the Prius group.

The Prius C comes with a combined 99bhp engine that runs both in petrol and electricity. The hybrid car is driven by the combination of a 1.4-litre engine with the electric motor. The power reaches the front wheels via the CVT transmission.

The car promises fuel efficiency up to 101mpg (miles per gallon).

The baby Prius measures 110mm longer and 65mm lower than Toyota’s new Yaris and both have the same width of 1695mm. No details are available on the carbon dioxide emission levels as yet.

The car after making its debut in the Tokyo Motor Show is likely to be seen in the US and Japan around 2012. Meanwhile, the car will be released in Europe after the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March and might gradually reach the UK too.

The Toyota Prius C is expected to be priced around $20,000 in the US.
