Throw Away Plastic Bottles Sought After in Bahrain

Throw Away Plastic Bottles Sought After in Bahrain
A green lover group in the island Kingdom of Bahrain – the Al Areen Lions Club, came up with their unique aid drive which focused on collecting throw away plastic bottles for a cause.  The club has been collecting bottles as part of the campaign on behalf of the Bahrain Association for Parents and Friends of the Disabled (BAPFD).
In a deal with a local recycling company, the club would receive money for every ton of plastic that is turned over. This money will be used to buy wheelchairs to help disabled patients.
The initiative has garnered immense support and the effort proved a huge success, Club former President Yousif Hubaishi said. “We are receiving almost five times more than what we started with. We are very happy with the response,” he added.
“A number of people have donated many bags filled with plastic and Tatweer, Golden Tulip, eGovernment Abdul Rehman Kanoo School, French School, Bahrain Polytechnic and College of Health and Science in Salmaniya have donated thousands of bottles by dropping in bags every week,” he said.
A normal wheelchair costs much less than a customized one. “We can buy customized wheelchairs after collecting around 12-15 tons of plastic,” says BAPFD Chairman Jassim Seyadi. He said that, every month, they obtain two to three tons of plastic.
The group informed that they are calling out to more people for donations. Are you also willing to be part of the initiative? Get connected at 39663639 or 17811223 (BAPFD). Come, show you too care!
