Remember we told you about Chris Paine’s Revenge of The Electric Car some time ago? The documentary will start screening nationwide in the US this weekend. Revenge of The Electric Car is the sequel of his well known documentary film Who Killed the Car, a 2006 release. The premiere of the film was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this year.
The documentary is about the resurgence of the electric car. It portrays the continuous efforts by Nissan, General Motors, Tesla and the DIY movements to create a viable electric car for series production. The film will be screened only in select locations.
Chris Paine takes his film crew behind the closed doors of Nissan, GM and Tesla Motors to achieve his aim to portray the resurgence of the electric car.
He says through the documentary that, the new generation of electric car is America’s future which is fast, furious and cleaner than ever.
The film, like Who Killed the Electric Car, follows the fortunes of an independent electric car convertor. Paine had told the 2011 AltCar Expo crowd that one potential theme for the documentary was Japanese monster movies with supernatural characters.
The introduction of the film tells the evolution of the transportation story in two minutes. It shows a path Paine and his crew may have gone with the film. A new animated opening for the film is on its official website and YouTube. We have it for you here. The film’s Facebook page has more than 17,000 fans already. Are you one of them?
