Cute Barbie, you too have a beautiful dream house now, that too an eco-friendly one. Barbie’s dreams have come true. A design competition was held by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in association with Mattel to design a four-storey dream house for the American icon. The jury selected five final entries, and invited the public to choose their favorite model. Thirty-one-year-old Ting Li and 29-year-old Maja Palkar, two Harvard Master’s grads, finished on top by bagging 8,470 votes. The two New York-based store designers designed a good-looking mansion to overlooking a beach in Malibu, California, for dream girl Barbie.
Barbie being a great lover of nature, she has been presented with an eco-friendly home that has a lot of green amenities, including a solar panel, open kitchen along with office, meeting place, energy saving home appliances , zero VOC paint, low-flow toilet and sink fixtures, operable shading devices, meditation room and the like.
Other notable features are that the house incorporates bamboo floors and a roof garden with natural irrigation. Locally sourced materials have gone into the furnishing front.
Automatic shades have been thrown in to keep the interiors of the house cool. Barbie’s new home will try to reduce the carbon footprint. She will move around when she steps out on a pink Vespa that boasts reduced CO2 emissions.
Further, she will also have a giraffe positioned in front of her new home. What do you think of the new design?
