Pipistrel’s light aircraft is going on sale. The Taurus Electro G2, apart from its core feature of being a light weight aircraft, is also known for being rather quieter and more environmentally friendly. It can take off on shorter runway and climb faster. It s high altitude performance is also known to be far good than the Rotax-engined version.
The plane that weights 306-kg (675-lb) is powered by a 40 kW (54 horsepower) permanent magnet AC motor. It lifts the aircraft in 160 meters (175 yards) when loaded to capacity. It also climbs as fast as 3.1 meters (10.2 feet) per second at speeds of 100 km/h (62 miles per hour).
This makes the craft capable of flying as high as 6,500 feet. It comes with better performance as compared to other gasoline-powered crafts.
The two-person side-by-side craft is built on a glider airframe. The propeller is retracted with the help of a button which enables it to fly downhill.
It comes with a lithium polymer battery. The power source holds 4.75 kWhs in four separate boxes, with options that allow increasing up to 7.10 kWh.
The recharging of the battery takes 3.5 hours with the standard battery or five with the larger configuration. It is also provided with an enclosed trailer with a solar charging system. Well, the price Pipistrel Taurus Electro G2 is the same, €89,500 ($123,700).
