It’s green fever at LG too! LG has announced that they will utilize Eco-Magnesium in all their forthcoming mobile devices, starting 2012. They have planned to replace all the conventional magnesium inside the mobile devices with the Eco-Magnesium. The company has promised this new type of clean magnesium to reduce greenhouse gas emission during the die casting process by a factor of approximately 24,000 without affecting the quality of the final product.
The Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) is the apex body that developed the Eco-Magnesium and the initiative was by the Korean government.
A report on this said that it is claimed that the Eco-Magnesium can eliminate the sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases.
The move is considered as one of the key strategies of LG in becoming a leader among the more environmentally responsible companies.
The company hopes to create an awareness among its own customers and is hoping to prompt them to be a significant part of making this world cleaner.
All the LG phones are expected to get packed up with Eco-Magnesium by 2012 and the move is surely an initiative to be appreciated.
LG seems to follow the path which seems to be similar with Sony Ericsson’s Green Heart Initiative and Nokia’s Planet Ke Rakhwale campaign.
