Kingship, the Chinese shipyard has begun the construction of the eco-friendly superyacht, the 44m Green Voyager. The yacht features a unique eco-conscious design, with a low environmental impact 44m motor using diesels, shaft generators/E-motors, diesel-electric and advanced power management systems.
It is designed by Axis Group Yacht Design of Viareggio. Green Voyager will also be able to achieve efficiency increases of 16% in propulsion and around 20% for hotel loads alongside an unprecedentedly low level of emissions. Thus it leads to exceed RINA Green Plus Platinum notation.
The technical and operational philosophy of the yacht has been explained along with its methods used for breaking new environmental and efficiency barriers.
Kingship’s Green Voyager has also been nominated for the Union Internationale Motonautique 2010 Environmental Award. The Award will be presented to the winner at an Award Ceremony in the prestigious Salle de Etoiles in Monte Carlo on the 5th of February 2011.
The initiatives that include racing and record breaking on powered craft are usually considered for the award, but the Green Voyager has been taken into consideration.
UIM explained the reason behind the decision by saying that every activity, be it large or small, conducted on the water can make a difference in the fight against climate change.
