Eco-Libris has joined hands with Indigo Books & Music to launch the ‘Blogger Engagement Campaign’ which aims at using the internet and social media to raise awareness of books printed on environmental paper. The program therefore also supports forest conservation. Eco-Libris is a green company working to green the book industry by promoting the adoption of green practices in the industry, balancing out books by planting trees, and supporting green books.
Indigo is a publicly traded Canadian company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and is the largest book retailer of the country.
By implementing the campaign, two hundred bloggers will review their selections from 200 books that have been printed on recycled paper which are FSC certified. The list of publications, according to a press note, includes both adults and children’s books.
Indigo is the only book retailer supporting Eco-Libris in these campaigns. The company views the campaign as a way to highlight Indigo’s commitment to the use of environmental papers in book publishing.
In fact it forms the basis of company’s core goal to eliminate the use of wood fibre from endangered forests and facilitate a broader sustainability shift in the publishing and paper supply chain.
The Green Books Campaign celebrates sustainable reading, presenting book lovers worldwide with great options in books that are printed using eco-friendly paper.
Although there’s so much hype today around e-books, the organizers believe that books printed on paper remain dominant in book retailing and it is important to us all that they will be as environmentally sound as possible.
The collaboration of Eco-Libris with Indigo is viewed as a positive move by environment enthusiasts. Books printed on environmental paper make a sustainable choice.
