Former US President Bill Clinton has confirmed that he is eating a mainly vegetarian diet these days. Clinton, who has suffered from massive heart issues since 2004, says that he has plans to stick on to the diet for a few more months and then start evaluating where to go from there.
The former president has explained to Yahoo, in a recent video interview, about why he is following a diet plan. He explained that he is trying to be one of those experimenters, who have tried essentially a plant-based diet and have seen their bodies start to heal themselves. He wants to become one of those people who have tried it and got amazing results.
Clinton explained that her daughter’s wedding was also a reason for going the veggie route and also said that future grandchildren are a big motivation for him to embrace a healthier lifestyle.
The diet allowed Clinton to drop more than 20 pounds, which was something that his daughter wanted her father to do as she wanted him not only to look good, but also be in the best of health when he walked her down the aisle.
It has also been revealed Clinton has read many books on the topic, including books by T. Colin Campbell, Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr. Dean Ornish. He also said that the choice to go vegetarian was about more than just losing weight, although that was a benefit which came with the diet.
