The upcoming all electric Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell Prototype is now up for a preview. The E-Cell car will run fully on electric power thanks to the lithium-ion polymer battery modules that have been incorporated. Look closely and it would be revealed that Merc has arrayed the Li-Ion polymer battery modules in the center tunnel just behind the two seats.
According to Worldcarfans, the E-Cell produces 392 kW (526 bhp / 533 PS) and peak torque of 880 Nm. It is believed that the battery pack comes with a maximum load potential of 480 kW, and has been built to go from 0 – 60 mph in 4 seconds. Merc has also incorporated two cooling circuits. Also included is an extended front apron that helps in effective airflow under the body.
An extendable front splitter, which the driver can control through a button, is also there. The car bears optional ceramic composite brakes with sizes 18.5-inches up front and 14.2-inches at the rear, it said.
The exteriors come with a spruced up look with a wider front grille, LED headlights, new air outlets on the bonnet, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels with 265/35 and 295/30 tyres. The dashboard has arrayed displays for speed and charge status. A 10-inch touch screen has also been thrown in.
We are yet to know as to when the car will debut, but speculations are that the SLS AMG E-Cell would be Merc’s line up for year 2015.
